Who I Am

Val (Vladi) Kaplan Over the last 18 years, I have been closely involved in marketing for Asia Pacific market while working and living in several countries throughout the region. My last few years, that I have spent in China, have been particularly interesting and illuminating.

Currently, I’m leading the marketing division of a medium size Israeli-headquartered NASDAQ-listed high-tech multinational that conducts majority of its business in China since 2006. Today, our sales in Asia account to about 90% of our worldwide revenues out of which, approximately 80% are presently coming from Mainland China.

We consider ourselves true pioneers and are, in fact, one of the most successful foreign businesses that went all the way in establishing their main base in China. In just a few years we’ve moved our entire business operation that included R&D, manufacturing, sales, marketing and service from its original base in Israel to Suzhou, China.

I was very fortunate to be able to be part of that exciting process, which also enabled me to gain unique insight and develop extensive professional expertise in the field of marketing in China. I have also realized how little useful information on this topic is available out there and how few Westerners possess the proper knowledge (while willing to share it) on the matter of marketing in China. You simply have to be here, live it and breathe it in order to truly understand how different marketing in China really is compared to what we are used to in the more familiar markets.
